Product Specific Information

This antibody detects endogenous levels of TNNI3 only when phosphorylated at Ser23 and Ser24.

Target Information

Cardiac Troponin I (TNNI3) is a cardiac muscle–specific inhibitory protein that functions as part of the troponin complex with troponin C (TnC) and troponin T (TnT).
TnT binds to tropomyosin, forming a troponin–tropomyosin complex anchored by TnI binding to actin within thin filaments.
When calcium binds to TnC, it induces structural changes that release the inhibitory region of TnI from actin, enabling myosin attachment and muscle contraction.

Measurement of blood TnI and TnT levels is an important diagnostic indicator of heart muscle damage, helping to distinguish between angina and myocardial infarction.
Cardiac Troponin I also inhibits angiogenesis in vivo and in vitro.
Mutations in the TNNI3 gene can cause familial hypertrophic cardiomyopathy type 7 (CMH7) and familial restrictive cardiomyopathy (RCM).
