Target Information
CD13 (ANPEP) is a 150–170 kDa type II transmembrane zinc-binding ectopeptidase expressed on various cell types. It acts as a metalloprotease that removes neutral amino acids from small peptides, modulating bioactive peptide activity. CD13 plays roles in extracellular matrix degradation, antigen processing, and signal transduction, contributing to inflammatory responses, intercellular contact regulation, cell motility, and vascularization. It is expressed by granulocytes, monocytes, and myeloid leukemia cells, associated with poor carcinoma prognosis and protection of leukemic cells against apoptosis. CD13 functions as an aminopeptidase enzyme and serves as an alpha receptor for coronavirus.
