Target Information
GPX8 (Probable glutathione peroxidase 8), also known as GSHPx-8, belongs to the glutathione peroxidase family. Glutathione peroxidase (GPx) reduces hydroperoxides, including hydrogen peroxides, using reduced glutathione to protect organisms from oxidative damage.
In humans, eight GPx types (GPx1–GPx8) have been identified. The full-length GPX8 consists of 209 amino acids with a molecular weight of approximately 24 kDa.
