Target Information
The MYBPC2 gene encodes a fast-type isoform of the myosin-binding protein C family, which includes fast-, slow-, and cardiac-type isoforms. These proteins are associated with myosin in the C region of A bands in striated muscle.
Mutations in slow-type and cardiac-type isoforms are linked to distal arthrogryposis type 1 and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, respectively.
MYBPC2-related diseases include Lethal Congenital Contracture Syndrome 4 and Nemaline Myopathy 9.
