Product Specific Information
The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum using an epitope-specific immunogen. Purity is greater than 95% as determined by SDS-PAGE.
Target Information
PCCA is a key enzyme in the catabolic pathway of odd-chain fatty acids, isoleucine, threonine, methionine, and valine. It likely forms a dodecamer composed of six biotin-containing alpha subunits and six beta subunits, localized in the mitochondrial matrix. Defects in PCCA cause propionic acidemia type I (PA-1), a life-threatening disorder characterized by episodic vomiting, lethargy, ketosis, neutropenia, periodic thrombocytopenia, hypogammaglobulinemia, developmental retardation, and protein intolerance.
