Product Specific Information

This RR8-1 monoclonal antibody reacts with the mouse T cell receptor (TCR) V alpha 11 chain. TCR specificity is determined by Va, Ja, Vb, Db, and Jb gene rearrangement.
The RR8-1 antibody recognizes the V alpha 11 chain on T cells from mouse strains with b (e.g., C57BL/6, B10) and d (e.g., DBA/1, DBA/2) haplotypes. V alpha 11+ T cells are absent in strains with a (e.g., BALB/c, C3H) or c (e.g., SJL) haplotypes.
V alpha 11 is expressed predominantly on CD4+ T cells. RR8-1 recognizes V alpha 11.1 and 11.2 alleles, but not 11.3, and can stimulate V alpha 11+ T cells.

Target Information

T cell receptors (TCR) discriminate foreign from self-peptides presented by MHC class II molecules, critical for adaptive immune response.
Self-peptide recognition is linked to autoimmune diseases, while mutant self-peptides are associated with tumors.
TCR engagement by bacterial superantigens can cause toxic shock syndrome.
Autoantibodies to V beta segments have been found in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), potentially regulating inflammatory responses.
Most human T cells express TCR alpha-beta and either CD4 or CD8. A small subset lacks both (double negative, DN), which can increase in autoimmune or immunodeficiency disorders.
Gamma-delta T cells, mainly in epithelial tissues, have limited diversity and show antitumor and immunoregulatory activity.
