Target Information
Neurofilaments are intermediate filament proteins found specifically in neurons and are composed mainly of three major proteins: NF-L, NF-M, and NF-H.
NF-L (light chain) is the low molecular weight subunit (~70 kDa) that contributes to the maintenance of neuronal caliber.
NF-M and NF-H are medium and heavy molecular weight subunits, respectively, with NF-H typically running on SDS-PAGE gels at 180–220 kDa.
Expression of these proteins is tissue-specific and developmentally regulated.
