Target Information

Retinoic Acid (RA), the active metabolite of vitamin A, regulates the transition of proliferating precursor cells (such as carcinoma and neuronal precursor cells) to postmitotic differentiated cells.
The Retinoid X Receptor (RXR) family — including RXR alpha, beta, and gamma — preferentially binds 9-cis-RA and regulates gene transcription by forming heterodimers with other RA receptor families.
RAs may have potential therapeutic roles in cervical cancer and are known to play key roles in neuronal development. Increasing evidence suggests that retinoid signaling regulates synaptic plasticity and associated learning and memory behaviors.
