Target Information
CHEK1 (CHK1) is a serine/threonine protein kinase involved in maintaining DNA integrity by halting replication when damage occurs. It acts as a key mediator in the DNA damage-induced checkpoint network. When CHK1 function is inhibited, p53-deficient cancer cells undergo mitotic catastrophe and apoptosis, while normal cells arrest in G1 phase. Therefore, CHK1 is an important target for cancer therapy, particularly in p53-deficient tumors.
