Target Information
GNPDA1 is a 289 amino acid cytoplasmic protein belonging to the glucosamine/galactosamine-6-phosphate isomerase family. It is one of the two mammalian glucosamine-6-phosphate deaminase enzymes. GNPDA1 is an allosteric enzyme that catalyzes the reversible conversion of D-glucosamine-6-phosphate (GlcN6P) into D-fructose-6-phosphate (Fru6P) and ammonium through aldo/keto isomerization and amination/deamination.
GNPDA1 may trigger calcium oscillations in mammalian eggs at fertilization, serving as an important factor for egg and early embryo development. It is a homohexamer, ubiquitously expressed in most human tissues, with high expression in testis, ovary, placenta, and heart, as well as in various cell lines.
