EIF2AK3 (PERK)는 eIF2-alpha의 Ser51을 인산화하는 4가지 키나아제 중 하나로, 다양한 환경적 스트레스에 반응하여 단백질 합성을 감소시킵니다.
EIF2AK3의 신호 전달은 소포체 내의 잘못 접힌 단백질에 의해 유도됩니다.
EIF2AK3의 결함은 Wolcott-Rallison syndrome (WRS)의 원인이며, 이는 조기 발병 당뇨병과 성장 장애, 골이형성증, 간 및 신장 기능 이상 등을 특징으로 하는 희귀 상염색체 열성 질환입니다.
