Target Information
DNAJC13, also known as receptor-mediated endocytosis 8 (RME8), is a human homolog of a DnaJ domain-containing protein identified in C. elegans endocytic defect screens. It functions as a co-chaperone of Hsc70, regulating protein conformation at membrane sites and participating in intracellular trafficking. DNAJC13 co-localizes with endosomal markers and is implicated in membrane trafficking through early endosomes but not degradative organelles. It also regulates intracellular trafficking of the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR).
