Target Information
L-plastin is a leukocyte-specific actin bundling protein from the fimbrin family. It contains two actin-binding domains and two EF-hand type calcium-binding domains. The protein is phosphorylated on a serine residue in response to inflammatory stimuli and may regulate integrin-mediated adhesion in leukocytes.
L-plastin is expressed in most human cancer cell lines derived from solid tumors and is upregulated by testosterone in androgen receptor-positive prostate and breast cancer cells through androgen receptor binding elements located upstream of the gene.
