Product Specific Information
MA1-2003 detects P-cadherin from human and mouse samples.
It has been successfully used in Western blot procedures, detecting an ~120 kDa protein representing P-cadherin from A431 cell extract.
MA1-2003 can also be used in immunoprecipitation and immunofluorescence procedures.
The immunogen is A431 trypsinized membranes.
Target Information
P-cadherin (Cadherin-3) is a Type 1 cadherin protein belonging to the cadherin superfamily.
Type 1 cadherins are single-pass transmembrane proteins with five extracellular cadherin repeats and an intracellular domain that binds p120-catenin and beta-catenin.
Cadherins are calcium-dependent cell-cell adhesion glycoproteins involved in development, wound healing, signaling, cell growth, and differentiation.
P-cadherin is expressed in human fetal tissues and adult tissues such as:
- Basal layer of epidermis
- Breast
- Prostate
- Ovary
- Cervix
- Hair follicle
- Corneal endothelium
It is also found in embryonic stem cells and mammary gland stem cells.
Overexpression of P-cadherin correlates with poor prognosis in breast, prostate, ovary, colon, and stomach carcinomas.
Mutations in CDH3 are associated with congenital hypotrichosis with juvenile macular dystrophy.
