PHKG2는 인산화효소 키나아제 감마 서브유닛의 고환/간 특이적 아이소폼입니다. 이 효소는 알파, 베타, 감마, 델타 각 4개의 서브유닛으로 구성된 16개 단백질 복합체입니다.

  • 알파 서브유닛은 골격근 및 간 아이소폼으로, 서로 다른 유전자에 의해 암호화됩니다.
  • 베타 서브유닛은 두 아이소폼 모두 동일하며 하나의 유전자로 암호화됩니다.
  • 감마 서브유닛은 활성 부위를 포함하며, 간 아이소폼은 PHKG2 유전자에 의해 암호화됩니다.
  • 델타 서브유닛은 칼모듈린으로, 세 가지 유전자에 의해 암호화될 수 있습니다.

감마 서브유닛은 효소의 활성 부위를 포함하고, 알파 및 베타 서브유닛은 인산화에 의해 조절되는 조절 기능을 담당합니다. 델타 서브유닛은 효소의 칼슘 농도 의존성을 매개합니다.
PHKG2 유전자의 돌연변이는 글리코겐 저장병 9C형(autosomal liver glycogenosis)을 유발합니다. 또한, 다양한 아이소폼을 암호화하는 선택적 스플라이싱 전사체가 보고되어 있습니다.
