MA1-90031 detects CD66a, CD66c, and CD66d from non-human primate and human samples.

Target Information

This gene encodes a member of the carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) gene family, part of the immunoglobulin superfamily. Two subgroups—CEA cell adhesion molecules and pregnancy-specific glycoproteins—are located within a 1.2 Mb cluster on chromosome 19. Eleven pseudogenes of the CEA cell adhesion molecule subgroup are also found in this cluster.

The encoded protein was first described in liver bile ducts as biliary glycoprotein and later identified as a cell-cell adhesion molecule present on leukocytes, epithelia, and endothelia. It mediates adhesion via homophilic and heterophilic interactions within the subgroup and is involved in tissue organization, angiogenesis, apoptosis, tumor suppression, metastasis, and immune modulation. Multiple transcript variants exist, though not all are fully defined.
