ZDHHC2는 다양한 단백질 기질에 팔미토일기를 추가하는 팔미토일트랜스퍼라아제로, 여러 세포 과정에 관여합니다. 신경계에서는 AKAP5의 팔미토일화를 통해 시냅스 가소성과 단백질 수송을 조절하며, DLG4 및 관련 AMPA 수용체의 시냅스 클러스터링을 유도합니다. 또한 RGS7BP, CD9, CD151, CKAP4, LCK 등의 팔미토일화를 매개하여 세포 부착, 단백질 위치 조절 및 G 단백질 신호전달에 영향을 미칩니다.
