Sevirumab is a biosimilar that targets HCMV. Human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) glycoprotein B (gB) is an abundant virion envelope protein essential for HCMV infectivity. HCMV gB is highly immunogenic, and a significant fraction of virus-neutralizing antibodies are directed at gB.
