Target Information
CDCA8 is a component of the chromosomal passenger complex (CPC), essential for the stability of the bipolar mitotic spindle. The CPC, which includes Survivin, CDCA8, INCENP, and Aurora-B, plays crucial roles during mitosis and cell division. CDCA8 expression increases during the G2/M phase and decreases after exit from M phase. It is cell cycle regulated, down-regulated by p53/Rb signaling, and up-regulated in various cancers. Inactivation of CDCA8 leads to polyploidy and delayed mitosis, highlighting its importance in cell proliferation. Aberrant expression is associated with poor prognosis in gastric cancer.
