Target Information
The protein encoded by the PPM1G gene belongs to the PP2C family of Ser/Thr protein phosphatases, known as negative regulators of cell stress response pathways.
PPM1G is responsible for dephosphorylating pre-mRNA splicing factors, essential for functional spliceosome formation.
Mouse studies suggest a role in cell cycle regulation.
Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding the same protein have been described.
