Target Information
This gene encodes a serine/threonine phosphatase that belongs to the protein phosphatase catalytic subunit family. Proteins in this family are involved in pathways regulated by reversible phosphorylation at serine and threonine residues, which play roles in cell growth and differentiation. The PPP5C protein participates in signaling pathways responding to hormones or cellular stress, and elevated levels may be associated with breast cancer development. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants.
