This antibody cross-reacts with mouse and rat MAPK14 based on sequence homology.

Target Information

MAPK14 (p38 alpha) belongs to the stress-activated protein kinase class of MAPKs. The p38 MAPK cascade regulates various cellular responses to stress, inflammation, and other stimuli.
p38 MAPK is inactive in its nonphosphorylated form and becomes rapidly activated by dual phosphorylation at the Thr-Gly-Tyr motif. There are four isoforms of p38 MAPK that differ in tissue expression and affinity for upstream activators and downstream effectors.
Activation occurs upon exposure to tumor necrosis factor, interleukin-1, heat shock, or other stimuli, leading to phosphorylation by MAPK kinase-3/6 at Thr180 and Tyr182. Activated p38 MAPK then phosphorylates transcription factors such as ATF-2, CHOP-1, and MEF-2.
