Product Specific Information
- In sandwich ELISAs, no cross-reactivity with recombinant human (rh) IL-3, rhGM-CSF, recombinant mouse (rm) IL-5, rhIL-5, rmIL-3, or rmGM-CSF is observed.
- Reconstitute at 0.5 mg/mL in sterile PBS.
- Endotoxin level is <0.10 EU per 1 µg of the antibody by the LAL method.
Target Information
IL-5 is a cytokine that acts as a growth and differentiation factor for both B cells and eosinophils. It is a key regulator of eosinopoiesis, eosinophil maturation, and activation. Elevated IL-5 production is associated with asthma and hypereosinophilic syndromes.
The IL-5 receptor is a heterodimer whose beta subunit is shared with receptors for interleukin 3 (IL3) and colony stimulating factor 2 (CSF2/GM-CSF).
IL-5, along with IL4, IL13, and CSF2, forms a cytokine gene cluster on chromosome 5, regulated coordinately by long-range elements over 120 kb on chromosome 5q31.
