Target Information
BAF53A는 actin-related proteins (ARPs) 계열의 단백질로, conventional actin과 높은 아미노산 서열 유사성을 가집니다. ARPs는 ATP 결합 부위를 포함한 actin fold 구조를 가지며, 세포 내 소포 수송, 방추체 방향 조절, 핵 이동, 염색질 리모델링 등 다양한 세포 과정에 관여합니다.
BAF53A는 포유류의 BAF (BRG1/brm-associated factor) 복합체의 53 kDa 서브유닛으로, 효모 및 초파리의 SWI/SNF 복합체와 기능적으로 유사합니다. 이 복합체는 염색질 매개 전사 억제를 상쇄하여 특정 유전자의 전사를 활성화시키는 역할을 합니다.
또한 BAF53A는 β-actin과 함께 BRG1의 ATPase 활성을 극대화하고, BAF 복합체의 염색질/매트릭스 결합에 필요합니다. 세 가지 전사 변이체가 보고되었으며, 두 가지 단백질 아이소폼을 암호화합니다.
