Target Information
Septin 2 is a filament-forming cytoskeletal GTPase required for normal actin cytoskeleton organization. It plays a crucial role in the biogenesis of polarized columnar-shaped epithelium by maintaining polyglutamylated microtubules and facilitating vesicle transport. Septin 2 is essential for mitotic progression, forming a scaffold at the midplane of the mitotic spindle to maintain CENPE localization and chromosome congression. It also contributes to chromosome segregation, spindle elongation during anaphase, ciliogenesis, and collective cell movements.
