Target Information
HMGB2 encodes a member of the non-histone chromosomal high mobility group protein family. These chromatin-associated proteins are widely distributed in the nuclei of higher eukaryotic cells. In vitro studies show that HMGB2 can bend DNA and form DNA circles, suggesting a role in facilitating cooperative interactions between cis-acting proteins by promoting DNA flexibility. It is also implicated in DNA end-joining repair and V(D)J recombination processes.
