• Specific for the VP40 antigen of the Marburg virus.
• Reactive with several native strains; negative for EBOLA.
• Non-reactive with mammalian cells (ICC/IF).
• Purified >90% pure mouse monoclonal antibody from ascites fluid by protein A chromatography.
• Formulated at 100 µg/mL in 0.01 M PBS, pH 7.2, containing 0.1% sodium azide.
• Each vial contains 1.0 mL.
• No stabilizing proteins added; store at 4°C until use.
• Suggested starting dilutions: 1:10–1:50 for ICC/IF, 1:20–1:200 for ELISA.
• Working dilution should be optimized by the user.

Target Information

Marburg virus (MBG) is a member of the Filoviridae family of RNA viruses. It is an exceptionally dangerous pathogen causing severe, contagious, and highly lethal (53–88%) hemorrhagic fever. The term “thread viruses” refers to their filamentous morphology. MBG was first identified in 1967 during a nosocomial outbreak among vaccine production workers in Germany exposed to Ugandan green monkeys and their kidney tissues. The pathogenesis and immunogenesis of MBG fever remain poorly understood, and no specific treatments exist. VP40 plays a key role in viral assembly, release, and suppression of immune signaling in infected cells.
