Target Information
Toll-like receptors (TLRs) are evolutionarily conserved pattern-recognition molecules that mediate antimicrobial responses in Drosophila and mammals. They recognize microbial products and link innate and adaptive immune responses. TLRs act through adaptor molecules such as TOLLIP, MyD88, and TRIF to activate kinases and transcription factors. TOLLIP associates directly with TLR2 and TLR4, acting as an inhibitor to TLR activation, thereby limiting the production of proinflammatory mediators during infection and inflammation.
