AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK)는 α, β, γ 서브유닛으로 구성된 이형삼합체 효소로, 세포 내 에너지 상태를 감지하는 중요한 효소입니다. 이 효소는 지방산 및 콜레스테롤의 신생합성에 관여하는 주요 효소를 불활성화함으로써 에너지 균형을 조절합니다.
AMPK gamma-2 유전자는 4개의 cystathionine beta-synthase 도메인을 가진 단백질을 암호화하며, 변이는 심실 조기흥분(Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome), 진행성 전도계 질환, 심근비대와 관련이 있습니다. 다양한 전사적 스플라이스 변형체가 존재합니다.
