Target Information
Cytochrome C is an electron transporting protein located within the mitochondrial intermembrane space, playing a key role in oxidative phosphorylation and ATP production. Upon apoptotic stimuli, cytochrome C is released into the cytosol where it binds apoptotic protease activating factor, leading to activation of procaspase 9 and subsequently caspase 3 — a crucial effector of apoptosis.
