Target Information
Replication factor C (RFC) is an essential DNA polymerase accessory protein required for DNA replication, repair, and telomere metabolism. RFC forms a heteropentameric complex that recognizes primer-template junctions and loads PCNA onto DNA in an ATP-dependent reaction. All five RFC subunits share conserved sequences (RFC boxes) with ATP-binding motifs. RFC2, RFC3, RFC4, and RFC5 interact with Rad24, while RFC1 does not. RFC2, the third-largest subunit, binds ATP and is crucial for DNA replication and checkpoint function.
