This antibody detects endogenous levels of total PKA-R2 beta.

Target Information

cAMP is a signaling molecule important for a variety of cellular functions. It activates the cAMP-dependent protein kinase, which transduces signals through phosphorylation of target proteins. The inactive holoenzyme is a tetramer of two regulatory and two catalytic subunits. Upon cAMP binding, it dissociates into a regulatory dimer bound to four cAMP molecules and two catalytic monomers.
Four regulatory and three catalytic subunits have been identified in humans. The PRKAR2B gene encodes one of these regulatory subunits, which can be phosphorylated by the catalytic subunit and is known to interact with and suppress CREB1 transcriptional activity in activated T cells.
Mouse knockout studies suggest roles in energy balance, adiposity regulation, and mediation of haloperidol-induced gene induction and cataleptic behavior.
