Target Information

ADH5 유전자는 알코올 탈수소효소 계열에 속하며, 에탄올, 레티놀, 알리파틱 알코올, 하이드록시스테로이드 및 지질 과산화 생성물 등 다양한 기질을 대사합니다.
이 효소는 호모다이머 형태로 존재하며, 에탄올 산화 활성은 거의 없지만 장쇄 1차 알코올과 S-hydroxymethyl-glutathione 산화에 높은 활성을 보입니다.
포름알데히드 제거에 중요한 역할을 하며, 이는 자극 및 알레르기 유발 물질로 알려져 있습니다.
인간 유전체에는 이 유전자와 관련된 비전사성 유사유전자(pseudogene)가 다수 존재합니다.
