Product Specific Information

This antibody is predicted to react with primate, rat, and mouse based on 100% sequence homology; 93% sequence homology with chicken and bovine.

Target Information

HIF1-alpha (HIF1A) is a subunit of HIF1, a transcription factor found in mammalian cells under reduced oxygen tension. HIF-1 is a heterodimer composed of alpha and beta subunits, both belonging to the basic-helix-loop-helix Per-aryl hydrocarbon receptor nuclear translocator-Sim (PAS) family of transcription factors.
HIF1 functions as a transcriptional regulator of the adaptive response to hypoxia, activating transcription of over 40 genes including erythropoietin, glucose transporters, glycolytic enzymes, and VEGF.
HIF1-alpha regulates hypoxia-mediated apoptosis, cell proliferation, and tumor angiogenesis. It interacts with p53 and p300/CBP complexes to modulate hypoxia-responsive gene expression.
Hypoxia contributes significantly to diseases such as myocardial and cerebral ischemia, cancer, pulmonary hypertension, congenital heart disease, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
