Target Information

EYA2 functions as both a protein phosphatase and transcriptional coactivator for SIX1, and likely also for SIX2, SIX4, and SIX5.
It acts as a tyrosine phosphatase that dephosphorylates Tyr-142 of histone H2AX (H2AXY142ph), promoting efficient DNA repair via recruitment of MDC1-containing complexes.
Phosphorylation of Tyr-142 on H2AX is a key marker distinguishing apoptotic versus repair responses to genotoxic stress.
EYA2 plays an important role in transcription regulation during organogenesis and contributes to hypaxial muscle development along with SIX1 and DACH2, functionally redundant with EYA1.
