The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity chromatography using an epitope-specific immunogen. The purity is greater than 95% as determined by SDS-PAGE.

Target Information

Ribosomes catalyze protein synthesis and consist of a small 40S subunit and a large 60S subunit, composed of 4 RNA species and approximately 80 distinct proteins. The RPL22 gene encodes a cytoplasmic ribosomal protein that is part of the 60S subunit and belongs to the L22E family. The initiating methionine residue is post-translationally removed. The protein can bind specifically to Epstein-Barr virus-encoded RNAs (EBERs) 1 and 2, and the mouse homolog binds heparin. Multiple transcript variants exist due to alternative polyA signals. As with other ribosomal protein genes, multiple processed pseudogenes are dispersed throughout the genome. Although initially thought to map to 3q26 and fuse with AML1 at 21q22 in certain myelodysplastic syndromes, these fusions actually involve a pseudogene at 3q26; the functional RPL22 gene maps to 1p36.3-p36.2.
