Target Information
CAMK2A (CaMKII alpha) is a serine/threonine kinase that regulates various cellular functions including neuronal signaling, gene expression, carbohydrate metabolism, cytoskeletal organization, and calcium homeostasis.
Autophosphorylation at threonine 286 enables CaMKII alpha to transition from calmodulin-dependent to independent activity.
It plays critical roles in dendritic spine formation, synaptic plasticity, and calcium regulation in skeletal muscle.
