Target Information
Synaptotagmins are a large family of synaptic vesicle type III integral membrane proteins that regulate both exocytosis and endocytosis, playing a key role in neurotransmitter secretion. Calcium binding to Synaptotagmin I triggers neurotransmitter release at the synapse. Synaptotagmin II is phosphorylated by WNK1, influencing calcium-dependent interactions. Synaptotagmin III participates in calcium-dependent exocytosis in endocrine cells and neurons, while Synaptotagmin IV is highly expressed in neuronal tissues, particularly in the hippocampus.
