Target Information
Transcriptional control is partially regulated by interactions between DNA-bound transcription factors such as Egr-1/NGFI-A and coregulatory proteins NAB1 and NAB2. These conserved NAB proteins act as corepressors of EGF-1/NGFI-A.
NAB2 contains two conserved domains:
- NCB1 (NAB conserved domain 1): required for NGFI-A binding
- NCD2 domain: responsible for repressor function
NAB2 is localized in the nucleus and may play a role in NGFI-A downregulation, cell division, differentiation, and apoptosis. It has a predicted molecular mass of 56 kDa and maps to chromosome 12q13.3–14.1, a region rearranged in several solid tumors, lipomas, and liposarcomas.
