Target Information
PDGFRB (CD140b) is a receptor tyrosine kinase involved in atherogenesis and cell transformation by the SIS oncogene. These growth factors act as mitogens for mesenchymal-origin cells. The receptor can form homodimers or heterodimers with PDGFRA depending on the bound ligand. The PDGFRB gene, located on chromosome 5, is adjacent to GM-CSF and CSF1R genes, which may be associated with 5-q syndrome. A translocation between chromosomes 5 and 12 fusing PDGFRB to ETV6 can lead to chronic myeloproliferative disorders with eosinophilia.
