Target Information
Neuroglycan C (CSPG5) is a transmembrane chondroitin sulfate proteoglycan expressed exclusively in the central nervous system. Its gene expression is developmentally regulated and affected by psychostimulant addiction and nerve lesions. The core protein has a unique multidomain structure and undergoes post-translational modifications such as phosphorylation and glycosylation.
Neuroglycan C can exist in both proteoglycan and non-proteoglycan forms during cerebellum and retina development, and is implicated in neuronal circuit formation.
