Anti-human Polynucleotide Kinase (PNK) antibody recognizes PNK, a 57 kDa nuclear enzyme involved in DNA strand repair processes during replication and recombination or in response to DNA damage.
PNK modifies DNA termini (5'-hydroxy and 3'-phosphate) through phosphorylation and dephosphorylation.
In human cells, PNK interacts with nuclear proteins to prepare DNA ends for polymerase-beta and ligase III activity.
This enzyme plays a critical role in maintaining genetic stability.
