Target Information
Lin28 is a transcription factor first identified for its role in developmental timing in C. elegans. Lin28 is implicated in stem cell generation and regenerative medicine. Expression of Lin28 with transcription factors POU5F1, Sox2, and NANOG enables creation of induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cells from mouse fibroblasts. Recent studies show iPS cells can be generated using plasmids expressing Lin28, Sox2, POU5F1, and c-Myc, eliminating viral introduction and improving safety for regenerative applications.
