Product Specific Information

The monoclonal antibody 5UCLNT3 recognizes mouse and rat Trefoil Factor 3 (TFF3).
TFF3 is a member of the trefoil family, characterized by at least one trefoil motif—a 40 amino acid domain with three conserved disulfides.
It is secreted by mucus-producing and epithelial cells in tissues such as the gastrointestinal tract, kidney, and breast.

Biological Role:

• Maintains and restores mucosal surfaces.
• Inhibits apoptosis and promotes epithelial cell survival and migration.
• Induces airway epithelial ciliated cell differentiation.
• Serves as a biomarker for kidney tubular injury.
• May contribute to breast tumor progression and dissemination.

Applications Reported:
Used for microscopy and immunohistochemical staining of formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissue sections.

Applications Tested:
Validated for IHC on formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded rat tissue using low pH antigen retrieval at ≤10 µg/mL.
Titrate carefully for optimal performance.

Target Information

Trefoil peptides are protease-resistant molecules secreted throughout the gut, playing a role in mucosal healing.
They contain three intrachain disulfide bonds forming the trefoil motif (P-domain) and are clustered on human chromosome 21q22.3.
Trefoil Factor 3 (TFF3), secreted by epithelial cells of the intestines and respiratory tract, acts mainly as a disulfide-linked homodimer and promotes cell migration during mucosal repair.
