Target Information
Phospholamban (PLB) is a 52 amino acid phosphoprotein that regulates the calcium pump of cardiac sarcoplasmic reticulum (SR). PLB forms a pentamer of identical subunits, each with cytoplasmic and transmembrane domains.
- Cytoplasmic domain (residues 1–25): contains phosphorylation sites, highly basic, and protease-sensitive.
- Transmembrane domain (residues 25–52): hydrophobic, protease-resistant, and stabilizes the pentamer.
