ETFA는 미토콘드리아 지방산 β-산화의 초기 단계에서 전자 전달을 촉진하는 단백질로, 주요 플라보단백질 탈수소효소와 막 결합 전자전달 플라보단백질 유비퀴논 산화환원효소 사이에서 전자를 전달합니다.
전자전달 플라보단백질 결함은 다중 아실-CoA 탈수소효소 결핍으로 인한 제2형 글루타르산뇨증과 관련이 있으며, 다양한 유기산의 과다 배출을 초래합니다.
이 유전자는 서로 다른 아이소폼을 암호화하는 두 가지 전사 변형체를 가집니다.
