Target Information
The HHV DNA polymerase catalytic subunit replicates viral genomic DNA. The replication complex consists of six viral proteins: DNA polymerase, processivity factor, primase, primase-associated factor, helicase, and ssDNA-binding protein.
This polymerase exhibits intrinsic ribonuclease H (RNase H) activity, degrading RNA/DNA heteroduplexes or duplex DNA in the 5′→3′ direction. It catalyzes excision of RNA primers that initiate Okazaki fragment synthesis during viral DNA replication.
