Immunogen
Synthetic peptide corresponding to amino acids 222–266 of Human Calpain 12.
Product Specific Information
The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity chromatography using an epitope-specific immunogen. The purity is greater than 96% (by SDS-PAGE).
Target Information
The calpains, including Calpain 1 (CAPN1), are calcium-activated neutral proteases that function as nonlysosomal, intracellular cysteine proteases. Mammalian calpains include ubiquitous, stomach-specific, and muscle-specific proteins. The ubiquitous enzymes consist of heterodimers with distinct large catalytic subunits associated with a common small regulatory subunit. This gene encodes the large subunit of the ubiquitous enzyme Calpain 1. Several transcript variants encoding two different isoforms have been identified. Diseases associated with CAPN1 include Spastic Paraplegia 76, Autosomal Recessive, and Spasticity.
