Recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies are produced using in vitro expression systems. These systems are developed by cloning specific antibody DNA sequences from immunoreactive rabbits. Individual clones are screened to select the best candidates for production.

Target Information

Cystatin C, a member of the type 2 cystatin superfamily, is a potent inhibitor of cysteine proteinases, both endogenous (lysosomal cathepsins) and pathogenic. It is a 13 kDa secreted protein found in high concentrations in biological fluids and expressed by all human nucleated cells.

Changes in Cystatin C have been documented in cardiovascular diseases such as atherosclerosis, amyloid angiopathy, and myocardial infarction. Due to its low molecular weight, Cystatin C is also used as a marker of renal failure.
