Product Specific Information

This monoclonal antibody (clone 1042) recognizes human collagen Type IV, a key component of the extracellular matrix providing tensile strength to tissues. Type IV collagen is mainly found in the basal lamina and is composed of two alpha-1 and one alpha-2-like chains. It is associated with disorders such as Alport syndrome and Goodpasture’s syndrome.

Applications Reported:
Suitable for immunohistochemical staining of paraffin-embedded, frozen, and formalin-fixed tissue sections.

Applications Tested:
Validated for IHC on formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded human tissue using low pH antigen retrieval at ≤10 µg/mL. Optimal dilution should be determined experimentally.

Fluorophore Information:
eFluor® 660 replaces Alexa Fluor® 647. It emits at 659 nm and is excited by a red laser (633 nm). Ensure instrument compatibility.

Target Information

Collagen IV is a major structural component of the basement membrane in tissues such as kidney, lung, and skin. It forms a network-like scaffold providing support and stability. It consists of three alpha chains encoded by COL4A1, COL4A2, and COL4A3 genes. Mutations in these genes are linked to genetic disorders including Alport syndrome and Goodpasture syndrome.
